Parents & Spectators Code of Conduct 2007/2008

 

 

  1. Parents/Spectators must appreciate children’s involvement in playing football should be primarily for his/her personal enjoyment.

     

  2. Parents/Spectators must respect the rights, dignity and worth of each and every person and treat them equally within the contexts of sport. Praise positive aspects of play and avoid becoming frustrated or ridiculing young players by focusing on their failings.

     

  3. Parents/Spectators must place the well-being and safety of each player above all considerations, including the development of performance.

     

  4. Parents/Spectators must adhere to all guidelines laid down within the constitution and rules of the FA and the Football League that their team is playing in.

     

  5. Parents must develop an appropriate supportive relationship with both manager and their child, based on mutual trust and respect.

     

  6. Parents must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.

     

  7. Parents/Spectators must encourage and guide players to accept responsibility for their own behavior and performance.

     

  8. Parents/Spectators should at the outset and where appropriate, seek clarification with the manager, Club and players, exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect in return.

     

  9. Parents must co-operate fully with specialist (eg other managers, officials, sports scientists, doctors, physiotherapists) as it is in their interests to comply.

     

  10. Parents/Spectators must always promote the positive aspects of sport (eg fair play) and never condone violations of the laws of the game, behavior contrary to the spirit of the laws of the game, behavior contrary to the spirit of the game or relevant rules and regulations including racist or homophobic comments or the use of prohibited substances or techniques.

     

  11. Parents/Spectators must consistently display high standards of behavior and must, at all times, refrain from arguing with the Referee and Assistant Referees or Linesmen.

     

  12. Parents/Spectators must emphasise the importance of striving to win, not winning itself. Praise effort and performance more than results.

     

  13. Parents/Spectators must, at all times, show respect for the management and coaches, all officials, the opposition and their supporters.

     

  14. The use of violent conduct, foul language and abusive language is strictly forbidden.

     

  15. Parents/Spectators are forbidden to enter the field of play during a match, unless by specific request from the referee.

     

  16. Any Parents/Spectators wishing to take photographs or recording footage must request the permission of both team managers prior to doing so.

     

  17. A Club is responsible for the behaviour of its parents, spectators and Club officials at all matches.

     

  18. Parents will be responsible or the payment of any fine imposed upon them or their son/daughter by the FA or Football League. Payment will be submitted to the Bookham Colts League Secretary upon request.

     

 

Any proven breach of the Code of Conduct wiil be dealt with by the League Disciplinary Committee in accordance with the rules of the League
