About Bookham Colts
Who Are We?
We are the youth section of Bookham Football Club, based in Bookham, near Leatherhead in Surrey.
We provide youth football for 25 teams within the age group range of under 6's. to under 16's
How Long Have We Been Around?
Bookham FC was set up prior to the 1914-18 war, when it was known as the “Bookham Blues” but it was not until 1921 that the club became affiliated to the Surrey FA.
Which Leagues Do We Play In?
Of our 24 teams, 21 play in the Epsom & Ewell Youth Football League, 2 play in the Surrey Primary League and 1 in the Surrey Youth & Under 21s League.
Our Ethos:
We play for fun and not for winning at all costs. We firmly believe that our players enjoy their experiences in football above all else and that playing in the beautiful game is a lesson for life. Hence the experiences and skills that the children gain, can be taken into their lives as adults.
How Are We Run?
The Colts is primarily run by an army of devoted parents, with help from professional coaches. We are currently striving to gain FA Charter Standard, which ensures that the club is well structured and offers our players an environment where they can progress and enjoy their football.
Where Do We Play?
Our Mini-Soccer teams in the Under 6's to Under 10's agegroups play at schools based locally.
Our 11-a-side teams in the Under 11's to Under 16's age groups play at local recreation grounds. For example, Lower Road Recreation Ground in Great Bookham and Kennel Lane Recreation Ground (Ashwood Park) in Fetcham and Christie Recreation ground in Great Bookham.
Where Do We Train?
Each age group trains at a venue of their choice. These venues are the grass where we play and the Astroturf facilities of Therfield School and Downsend School in Leatherhead.
